Topic: Afraid Of Their Own Shadow!
Opening Prayer: My dear heavenly Father, as I study your word, let it be a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
Scripture: Genesis 43: 16 – 34
Question(s) for Reflection
• What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• Is there any warning for me to heed?
Observe how Joseph received back his brothers on their return to Egypt with Benjamin (v.16). Why do you think Joseph took his brothers to his own house and had a meal with them (v.16)? The brothers were afraid because they were brought into Joseph’s house. They were tormented by their own consciences, and Joseph’s initial ‘suspicion’ of them forbade them to expect any favour.
The last thing they expected was to be entertained at a banquet in the home of the second in command of Egypt. Their tension and anxiety are palpable, but many surprises emerged during their time in Joseph’s house. Notice these in vs.18, 23‐24, 27, 33‐34. It pays to be a person of integrity; for that will surely release us to enjoy the favour God sends our way.
Notice the fulfilment of Joseph’s dream not just once more as it relates to his brothers but also as it relates to Jacob (vs.26,28). Whatever the Lord has spoken in His Word will surely be fulfilled no matter how long it takes.

• O Lord, give me the grace to promptly acknowledge and repent of my wrongdoing so as to be at peace with you and with people around me.
Prayer for the week
• Pray for Christian youths in Nigeria. Believe God that their hearts will be steadfast towards God. Pray against discouragements especially when they see some wicked youths prosper illegally.
